Residencies 2018- Dance Base
Emma, Stefania and Atul began their research in Play Practice in Bangalore 2017. They come together again to develop three themes of interest Obstacles/Time/Relationships.
How do the Obstacles we face both internally and externally affect us. How does this effect our response to each other and our environment. How might this impact on our choices, direction and identity?
How does the concept of Time sit in our life today?
Running out of Time. What if we could speed up or slow down Time and spend more Time with a loved on.
We will draw on our personal experiences as a starting point for this research, using voice work and contact improvisation with the focus on weight and space in connection with each others bodies, playing with layers of tension, support and anticipation.

Come and join us for class-

Company Class | Tuesday 19 June | 10:00 – 11:30
Peaceful Warrior is a class focused on three fundamental ingredients animal play, CVN Kalari and meditation. The animal play will focus on cardio and traveling sequences, moving into Kalari an ancient south Indian warfare martial art and gently closing with meditation.

Here I come INDIA
I move to India for half a year, I depart bonnie Scotland on the 27th of July and arrive in India on the 28th midnight.

Most of my  time will be spent in Bangalore, delivering creative movement workshops. Simple contemporary techniques  and body work, involving the disciplines of touch inspired by my massage training and contact work, followed by creative tasks to help create movement. This will be brought to all ages in Schools and Community centres around Bangalore.

I will also be training in Kerala with a Master in CVN Kalaripayattu,  this movement is  very dynamic. I love it so much because the  speed and the accuracy of poses require you to find stillness and peace in the body. This  martial art form  is believed to have given birth  so Shaolin Boxing and is South India's warfare martial art form.  How cool is that!
For those of you who don't know Kerala,  it is a state on India's tropical Malabar Coast, it has nearly 600km of Arabian Sea shoreline, stunning rivers, famous for its spices, coffee and Ayurvedic  treatments. I can't wait!

UPSIDE DOWN- COMMISSION

Picture

August - 12th-16th- Emma receives 1st commission- 2013
Recently Emma returned from her 1st commission up north.
Her commission took place at Eden Court in Inverness. This residency was awarded by Eden Court, plan B and the Highland Council. She worked with 9 nine young dance enthusiasts ageing from 13 to 18 years, many of which had very little dance training.  The dancers showed outstanding individual achievements by the end of the 5 days; on the concepts of identity.  'Upside Down' premiered in Eden Court's One Touch Theatre.  She was joined by a new dance maker on the scene Jessica Wycherley.
Emma was honoured and  incredibly grateful for this opportunity.
